Everything you do or say will reflect only favorably on yourself, the coaching staff, your teammates, the program, and the club.
You will hold yourself accountable for your actions and take care of your mind and body with respect, in a fashion consistent with your role as a member of this team and a student athlete. This includes refraining from the use of tobacco, alcohol and drugs, or participating in risky or dangerous activities.
You will treat everyone associated with this team with the highest respect. If you have any difficulties with anyone, or with the way the program is run, you will seek to resolve it directly with the person(s) involved, or with a staff member. If you believe that someone associated with the team is in trouble or having difficulties, you will try to seek help (see something, say something).
You will strive to create a positive and inclusive environment. This includes refraining from bullying, cyberbullying, hazing, and use of social media to embarrass or intimidate. It also includes refraining from commentary, discussion or actions that might make others feel uncomfortable.
This code of conduct applies at all times and in all situations.
You are expected to report code of conduct violations no matter where or when they occur.
Please remember that as Privateers, you are representing our club at all times, even when you are not at a Privateers event. All rowers are accountable to the club, but also to their peers.
Accountability to the Club will be handled by Club coaches. Peer accountability is handled by our Privateers Accountability Committee which is made up of Junior and Senior Varsity Rowers. These rowers meet monthly, but also meet as needed, to discuss issues that may arise. Both the Accountability Committee and the Club may have consequences for Code of Conduct violations. Every attempt will be made to ensure that consequences are equitable and commensurate with the violation and could escalate with additional violations.
There are multiple ways that code of conduct violations or concerns can be reported.
Rowers are welcome to talk to coaches, Team Captains, or members of the Accountability Committee (any Varsity rower that is a Junior or Senior) at any time.
Rowers can discuss the issue with a parent or a trusted adult. That parent or trusted adult can then talk to a coach, however, we do encourage the rower to be present when that conversation occurs if at all possible. However, we do understand that the situation could be sensitive or uncomfortable.
Rowers or parents are welcome to complete our Feedback/Suggestion form, which can be submitted anonymously. https://team.sweepsandsculls.org/club-info/feedbacksuggestion-form
