The following steps should be completed at the end of each regatta season. Each step can be completed by the same person, or by different people. Some steps need to be done fairly quickly after the final regatta, but others can wait a bit.
Where: Rowing Center
When: Shortly after last regatta (this does not all need to be done at the same time)
Who: 1-? Parents
What:
Tent Bins:
Dry out any tents that got wet at the last regatta. They can be hung on the shell trailer using clips or clamps, or in the Rowing Center. If they are hung in the Rowing Center, they need to be cleaned up for any classes that may be happening (check with a coach).
If no tents got wet, then check the Regatta Maintenance & Repair Log Spreadsheet >> to see if there are any repairs that need to be made to any of the tents and make a plan for making those repairs.
Wipe out any bins that are gross.
Tent Accessories & Tarps Bin:
Take tarps & ground sheets out of bins and determine if they need to be cleaned.
Ground sheets can be washed in a washing machine
Tarps may need to be cleaned (if they are wet, dirty or particularly smelly)
Make a plan for cleaning the tarps and ground sheets
Clean out tent accessories and re-organize
Wipe out the bin
Where: Rowing Center (or at home if there are people that perfer to take them home)
When: Some time in October/November or August/September (this has to be done after Fall Season or after Corey Lake Camp)
Who: 1-? Parents
What:
Tarps/Ground Sheets:
If done at the rowing center, you can follow these directions (this probably only needs to be done once a year).
Hook up hose to the bathroom spigot.
Use dawn dish soap (top shelf in office) and/or peroxide cleaner (shelf by refrigerator) and deck scrubber (check with a coach to be sure this is at the rowing center when you need it)
Lay the tarp out behind the rowing center, spray it down and scrub it. Flip and repeat.
Hang tarp on the shell trailer to dry. Make sure you use clamps or clips of some kind so that it does not blow off
Make sure that you log that you washed the tarps in the Regatta Maintenance & Repair Log Spreadsheet >> (so that we can keep track of when it was done)
Wash ground sheets: someone can take them home and put them in their washing machine, then return them to the bin.
Tents:
Tent Repair (this needs to be done as needed)
Determine what needs to be done to make the repairs - what materials are needed, the best way to approach the repair.
Talk to a coach about purchasing any materials needed to make the repair.
Get any helpers needed and once the supplies arrive, get together at the rowing center to make the repairs.
Make sure you log that you completed the repairs in the Regatta Maintenance & Repair Log Spreadsheet >>
Blackstones (Once a year after Fall Awards in Early November):
Wipe down Blackstone frames, wind screens, and grease traps with Simple Green (there should be a bottle at the rowing center)
Clean and season (oil) both Blackstone tops then store them on the trailer.
Where: Rowing Center/Utility Trailer
When: Some time in October/November or August/September (this has to be done after Fall Season or after Corey Lake Camp)
Who: 1-? Parents
What:
Fold tarps, ground sheets, tent tops and re-pack in the proper boxes
Spread boxes out in the utility trailer and and leave them with their lids open.
Store Blackstone tops and frames on the utility trailer.
