Every year, our youth teams (Junior, Mentor, Recreational and Beginner) teams do a couple of gift exchanges. These are both completely optional, but are a fun way to get to know your teammates! Here is the information on the two gift exchanges:
White Elephant - $0
The White Elephant gift exchange is something we do at the Holiday Party, so to participate in this one, you have to be at the Holiday Party. The idea with this gift exchange is that you don't have to spend any money if you don't want to. You can regift something, or find something random that would make a funny gift. You are also welcome to buy something that you think might be fun. There are some guidelines:
Participation is optional
The gift can be something that you already own that you don’t mind parting with or it can be a gag gift of some kind if you like
There is no “price limit” but stay in the neighborhood of something that is worth $25 or less
No electronics
It has to be in working condition (can’t be broken)
It can’t be “junk” or something that is beat up
Has to be something that someone could potentially use
If it is something that is wearable, it has to fit whoever might get it and it has to be clean
Food items can not be opened or expired
Here are a few ideas:
Mugs
Books
Scarves
Hats
Wall hangings
Posters
Picture frames
You get the idea...
Secret Santa - $20-$30
Participation is optional
If you would like to participate, complete this questionnaire by Monday, December 8 - Please make sure you fill out this form completely to give the people buying your gift some ideas. It makes it really hard if they don't have some information about you! The idea is to get to know your teammates - so help them get to know you!
You do not need to be present at the party to participate
The Holiday Party is December 20 - If you will not be at the party, you should plan to bring the gift to the rowing center BEFORE the party
Coach Sue will assign each person to a Secret Santa by Tuesday, December 9
You will get an email who your giftee is by that afternoon and include the giftee’s questionnaire
You can also get an envelope with the giftee’s name and their printed questionnaire upon request.
Suggested range is $20-$30 (please do not go over $30)
DO NOT include your name, but DO Include some kind of hint of who you are with the gift - this can be a card with a clue on it, it can be part of the gift, be creative :-)
2025 Secret Santa Theme
For a fun twist this year the theme is COLOR WARS
I will assign you a color when I assign you giftee. Every Secret Santa should get their giftee 2 things...
Something to WEAR - an item of clothing that they could wear to practice that has the color you have been assigned. This could be a pair of socks, a t-shirt, a scarf, headband, hat, etc.
Something to DO - book, game, puzzle, craft, etc. (this can have the assigned color, but does not have to)
